Den's Cafe

Went to Den's Cafe again... we've actually been going a decent amount lately. It's pretty good! The portions are a bit small but we keep going back.

Deep-frying is like butter - it makes everything taste better! I have no idea how authentic this dish is, but it's good... It's like a kind of chicken curry (almost a soup) with deep fried noodles, which get drowned so they're not actually as crispy anymore. Good stuff.

The highlight of the meal though was Mike vs. Dave, round 2. After we ate, they decided to have a rematch eating contest. During one of our meals in Cancun (the all-you-can-eat seafood at Joe's Crab Shack), Mike embarassed Dave with a convincing victory. Dave tried to play it off and blamed the need to crack crab, but Mike clearly won. Dave's shame after the event has been building up quite significantly over the past month, and it all exploded at Den's Cafe. They went straight up on a plate of pad thai, loser to pay for both pad thais and the other person's original meal. Dave finished in one minute and twenty seconds. Mike gave up for the most part after his second bite when everyone noticed Dave was swallowing spoonfuls of pad thai without even biting. Mike got owned, but he claims he does not like pad thai and wants to pick the food item for the next round. Now we're waiting for round 3... This will likely have to go to Game 7.

did u forget to mention that both guys had already finished an entire meal just minutes before taking on the contest? that was daves second plate of pad thai. think the waiter was wondering wat the hell we were doing...

listen, the joes crab shack incident was a technicality and everyone that was there knows it.

i did not want to eat my crab legs! i stated that at the beginning because the time it takes to crack a crableg adds to the time of eating. this was to be how fast we could EAT, not how fast we could eat and crack crablegs! this was a mere technicality. mike "embarrasing" me with a significant victory is totally false as anyone there can attest to. regardless, i am the new champion and CLEARLY put mike to shame as he gave up as soon as he knew i was the king. the funniest is mike DID NOT FINISH. the fried ice cream i ate right after never tasted so sweet ...

First of all Dave, they were crab claws, not legs... arguably the easiest part of a crab to eat other than the roe.

Second, Mike was definitely the underdog in the first round, making the victory far more significant.

Third, if the contest is how based on how fast, then your pad thai victory would have to be disqualified because it was the SECOND plate of food, and nobody will argue that you are the endurance champion. Mike only claims to be a sprinter.

In closing, weren't you about to throw up the fried ice cream?
