Cancun Roundup

Alright, finally updating again. Here's a little roundup of Cancun. I didn't actually take that many pictures as a lot of the stuff wasn't all that interesting. Since it's such a touristy spot I don't think I got as authentic Mexican as I'd have liked, but oh well.

I ordered a lot of steak dishes. I got tampiqueña wherever I saw it pretty much... I wanted to compare it to the one they have at Maya back in San Francisco. The OK Maguey one was alright, but too salty. El Mortero was better. To be honest though, I think the one at Maya tops them both. The tequila flambee steak was tasty, but a little on the rare side. Of the three, Mortero had the best sides. Tasty quesadilla. The guacamole at OK Maguey was awesome, but again Maya does it just as well if not better. The plate of seafood is from an all-you-can-eat dinner at Joe's Crab Shack, which turned out to be really good. And LOTS of food. Just had to show at least one piña colada... must have had 30 of these while I was there. Didn't get any pictures of tacos and the like... the best tacos I had were at El Mortero that Dave ordered. Arrachera tacos... they were excellent, better than the taco truck I think. Overall though I wasn't too impressed with the food on the trip. I'd love to go to Mexico City or something to try out the real stuff. Vacation was GREAT though.
