about arthur
My name is Arthur Che, and I'm 25 years old. I live in San Francisco, and currently work as an account manager at a corporate event planning firm. I graduated from Boston University with a degree in International Relations and East Asian Studies in 2006. Before that, I went to San Francisco University High School, class of 2002. I was born in Hong Kong, but I moved to San Francisco when I was 4 and grew up here until I moved to Boston for college. I'm really into music (listening, that is... not playing) of all kinds. I'm also a huge sports fan (mainly of the 49ers and the Warriors). I can speak French, Mandarin and Cantonese. Sort of.
My favorite kind of food would probably have to be Japanese, with Italian there in a close second. But I'm pretty much open to all types of foods... whatever tastes good! My favorite single food item is probably a high-quality negitoro temaki. Truffles, kobe beef, and foie gras are up there too of course, but I think toro takes the cake.
I can't really cook. Well, I can cook *in theory* because I watch a lot of Food Network. Realistically, I have no experience at all.
about arthur hungry
Arthur Hungry is an online food journal (or a food blog as the kids like to call it these days) started in October 2003. Basically, the point is for me to take pictures of everything I eat, post those pictures online, and talk about the food. I want to show you what the real food looks like. No special magazine/website photos here - what you see is what you're served. This site is inspired by Nobrin's site, which is in Japanese, and sounds very funny through a Babelfish translator. I first began to think about this during my trip to Sapporo, Japan, during August 2003, which is when I found out about her site.
Let me also say that I have no credentials or qualifications other than my own personal taste. I take photos and say what I think. It is my great hope that my site can be helpful to foodies, travelers, or anyone else out there who is interested in restaurants and dining. The Internet is a great tool for helping everyone access great food, and I just want to do my part. Remember, I'm just a regular guy who happens to love eating, so don't take my word above your own. If there's one thing I can tell you, it's that everyone has their own tastes, so the best way to find out if something is good or not is to try it. Do not be afraid; try anything at least once!
High resolutions versions of my photos are available. Just let me know if you're looking for anything.
